A Simple Toothache...

...is never that fucking simple.

So I had a toothache on Friday. When I got my wisdom teeth, my lower ones grew out at a fucked up angle, leaving the gums prey to bits of food getting stuck underneath. Eating peanuts is a painful endeavour. The dentist had warned before that I should remove them or they would cause immeasurable pain in the future, but to remove them they would have to cut up my gums, which didn't sound appealing.

Until yesterday.

My right lower wisdom tooth was really acting up, but I thought I could hack it. Breakfast with my girlfriend involved pancakes, sausages, eggs and beans, then a trip to Amcorp mall to get tickets for Sky Captain & the World of Tomorrow (very cool art direction, very poorly paced script). It was when we were watching it that the pain began to take hold. By the time we left the cinema, I could hardly talk or swallow my own spit without wincing. The entire right side of my face looked like I had survived a stroke. I made a call at once to my dentist.

"I'm sorry, En. Khairil, but we close at six, and it's 5:45pm. I'm not sure whether you can make it," said the receptionist.

"Well, I'd be weally gwatefur if you could wai' fur me, becoth I'm in a conthidewabew amoun' of pain."

I made it there at 6:02, and my dentist began to laugh.

"I told you, didn't I? I told you it would be more painful, but you wouldn't listen!" he said between bouts of laughter.

"I'm gwad you find thith funny," I replied, "but I'm in too much pain to appwethiate it."

He gave me two types of pain killers and antiobiotics. I'll be booking my surgery date tomorrow.

The painkillers helped me immensely, and got mequite stoned to boot, which gave me an opportunity to watch some of the DVD's I had bought:

'Badaaaaaaasss!!!' was kick ass, and I highly recommend it to anyone who's interested in filmmaking.

'Napolean Dynamite' made me want to switch it off within the first ten minutes, and by the end of the movie I was so glad I didn't.

'Eurotrip' was stupid. In a fun way.

I also watched the highlights of 'A Better Tomorrow II', a John Woo film back when he was still in Hong Kong. Except for 'Face/Off', nothing he's done in Hollywood is anywhere near his Hong Kong portfolio.

I also burnt a CD of all three of the Khaimano EP's (only one was released), and listening to them in order was really interesting, 'cos each EP is a different time in my life, and you can hear how it affected the songwriting.

The '411C Sessions' were right after finishing my degree, and was pretty much a snapshot of all I did during my uni days.

'Fly Fatass Fly!' was all about Malaysia, and very punky in comparison to '411C''s Sublime influenced ska.

The last one was meant to be an album that was never finished when we broke up, and got more funk-influenced. Whilst a lot of the songs were about girls, like the others, this one had a song about one girl in particular, who will remain unnamed, and listening to that brought back fond and un-fond memories alike.

And with that, I leave you. I only came in to the office this Sunday night to pick up the comic books I left here by mistake: DV8 & Batman Gothic, which I am going to read now under a street lamp at a stall somewhere.

Besides, the painkillers are getting me stoned again. It's very subtle, but it's lead to me missing turn-offs on the highway, which are beginning to cost me more than it's worth in toll payments.
